Overview

There is a huge potential for saving energy in California. However, there are also significant problems that hinder efforts to realize the potential. The private and public sectors are working to overcome barriers to reducing energy use by improving the energy efficiency of the economy. The purpose of CIEE’s Program on Strategic Planning and Evaluation for Energy Efficiency is to provide technical and project management assistance to the private and public sector in designing and implementing energy efficiency solutions.

A major part of our work is providing technical support to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) on strategic planning and evaluation for energy efficiency. The CPUC is working with utility companies, state and local government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and a broad array of for-profit companies to promote energy efficiency. CIEE’s Program on Strategic Planning and Evaluation for Energy Efficiency currently provides assistance to the CPUC in the following areas:

  • Behavior
  • Market Effects & Market Transformation
  • Financing
  • Local Government
  • Embedded Energy in Water
  • Evaluation Training
