For over three decades, CIEE’s logo has evolved alongside its work in energy and climate research. As the Institute’s mission has changed, so too has its visual identity. The latest logo refresh honors the Institute’s legacy while balancing accessibility, versatility, and recognizability for the modern age.

The California Institute for Energy and Environment (CIEE) is calling for applications for the 2025 Art Rosenfeld Award for Energy Efficiency, which provides $10,000 in funding to a UC Berkeley graduate student who is committed to advancing research in energy efficiency. Applications are open now and will close on February 14, 2025.

CIEE’s Building Efficiency for a Sustainable Tomorrow (BEST) Center hosted the 13th annual Building Automation Systems (BAS) workshop in Berkeley, CA from June 3-7.

CIEE and the Center for the Built Environment completed a three-year project to reduce the substantial energy consumption and associated emissions by large-scale commercial buildings.

On March 31, 2021, the Hamilton project came to a close after four and a half years. Named after Alexander Hamilton, whose portrait appears on the ten-dollar bill, the project developed a modular, open-source, low-cost wireless sensor system to enable energy-efficient building operations for only ten dollars.
