CIEE Postdoctoral Scholar Dr. Miriam Aczel recently co-published a book review of On the Move: The Overheating Earth and the Uprooting of America by journalist Abrahm Lustgarten in Science Magazine. Lustgarten highlights historical precedents and predicts emerging patterns for climate-driven migration in the United States, including widening economic disparities as wealthier individuals relocate to more climate-resilient areas while the urban poor face heightened risks. The book concludes with a message of cautious optimism, stressing the importance of immediate action to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
