Sustainable Systems for Energy: Efficiency, Storage, and Behavioral Approaches
A CIEE-managed program for supporting the California Public Utilities Commission’s (CPUC) goals that focus broadly on energy efficiency, energy storage, economic and behavioral studies, and lifecycle analysis.
Sustainable Systems for Energy is a comprehensive program that CIEE manages to support the goals of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The primary objective of the program is to explore innovative pathways that align with California’s energy and environmental policy objectives, ultimately working toward the ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality. The outcomes of the projects within this program are captured in multiple reports that serve as valuable resources for informing CPUC’s decision-making processes.
Since 2020, the project has worked on climate and environmental studies on energy efficiency, energy storage, economic analysis, behavioral studies, and lifecycle analysis. With more awareness of new technologies and advancements in these fields, CPUC project leaders can be more proactive in developing frameworks and setting boundary conditions for future regulation, as well as be better positioned to evaluate changes to the grid.
