The California Institute for Energy and Environment (CIEE) is calling for applications for the 2025 Art Rosenfeld Award for Energy Efficiency, which provides $10,000 in funding to a UC Berkeley graduate student who is committed to advancing research in energy efficiency. Applications are open now and will close on February 14, 2025.

CIEE, in partnership with the California Natural Resources Agency, is pleased to announce the selected recipients of California’s Fifth Climate Change Assessment – Core Climate Research Program, which aims to support original research that addresses California-specific climate change priorities.

CIEE’s Building Efficiency for a Sustainable Tomorrow (BEST) Center hosted the 13th annual Building Automation Systems (BAS) workshop in Berkeley, CA from June 3-7.

Researchers from CIEE and the Center for the Built Environment (CBE) will lead two projects focused on developing decarbonization solutions for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in large commercial buildings.

CIEE’s Dr. Therese Peffer, with partners from the Center for the Built Environment and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, was awarded the 2024 Best Paper Award from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

CIEE and the Center for the Built Environment completed a three-year project to reduce the substantial energy consumption and associated emissions by large-scale commercial buildings.
