Postdoctoral scholar Dr. Miriam Aczel reflects on her time with CIEE as she moves on to the next chapter of her career.

CIEE’s Dr. Therese Peffer and Dr. Miriam Aczel are part of a multi-institutional research team that was awarded $12,000 from the France-Berkeley Fund to advance strategies for local decarbonization, sustainability, and urban resilience.

Researchers from CIEE and the Center for the Built Environment (CBE) will lead two projects focused on developing decarbonization solutions for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in large commercial buildings.

CIEE’s Dr. Therese Peffer, with partners from the Center for the Built Environment and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, was awarded the 2024 Best Paper Award from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
